DT4A’s booth at the data and research marketplace
Organized by WRI, Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative and Bezos Earth Fund, the Land and Carbon Lab’s 2023 Summit took place in Belgium, Brussels from June 27 to 29, 2023. The summit brought together policymakers, practitioners and innovators seeking to harness the power of geospatial data to achieve this decade’s climate, nature and sustainable development goals.
During the three-day summit, experts shared insights on the transformative potential of geospatial mapping. They discussed various topics, including accelerating the implementation of locally-led landscape restoration, addressing deforestation and nature-related crimes, empowering community-led land stewardship, ensuring accountability in conversion-free supply chains, scaling nature-based solutions through enhanced policy and finance mechanisms, planning land use for a sustainable future of food, transparently tracking progress towards global targets for nature and climate, and creating more equitable, sustainable and resilient urban areas.
The DT4A initiative hosted a booth at the data and research marketplace to introduce the initiative and share its achievements and challenges. The booth served as a platform to showcase DT4A’s ambition to promote open data, tools and research to bring sustainable urban transport systems in African cities. DT4A garnered a warm reception from attendees. The engagement and appreciation we received underscored the resonance of DT4A’s mission and the strides it has taken in tackling the unique challenges of urban mobility and sustainability across the African continent.
