It was a pleasure for WRI to participate in the 3rd Zambia Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) Annual Workshop held in Lusaka, Zambia. Organized by CCG and FCDO from February 15 to 16, the workshop provided a valuable platform for WRI to engage in discussions on \u00ab\u00a0Low Emission Transport.\u00a0\u00bb <\/strong>During the session, we showcased ongoing CCG-funded research projects in Lusaka, Esthelyne Dusabe, Urban Mobility Project Specialist for WRI Africa, presented the project titled \u00ab\u00a0Low Carbon Emissions Futures in Zambia.\u00a0\u00bb The presentation shared key aims, outputs, and findings, facilitating insightful conversations among stakeholders and transport experts.<\/p>\n

A panel convened by the CCG on Low Emission Transport for Lusaka, Zambia<\/em><\/p>\n

The workshop fostered live discussions with local and international organizations, allowing for the exchange of experiences and ideas on sustainable and inclusive transportation for Lusaka. Topics of discussion included the importance of mass transportation, governance and policy considerations, enforcement of policies, land use and travel demand, infrastructure development, modal integration, stakeholder and community engagement, and transport payment systems and wages.<\/p>\n

The workshop emphasized the need to establish a dedicated working group for sustainable urban mobility, focusing on low emission transport. The discussions highlighted the significance of learning from successful case studies in other countries to gain valuable insights and inspiration for improving urban mobility in Zambia. Furthermore, the importance of engaging end-users, stakeholders, and communities, as well as fostering collaboration among all stakeholders, was emphasized to ensure the project’s sustainability. This event has paved the way for future collaborations in advancing sustainable urban mobility in Zambia.<\/p>\n
